The low down on face oils. There is something terrifying in the eyes of customers when I suggest using a face oil on their face. It is noticeable instantly. The gasp of air, the holding of the breath, and then finally the, "Oil?? on my face?" YESSSSSS!!!!
The facts are that oils are actually good for our skin. Throw away all the old marketing ploys of stirpping the oil off your face to have flawless beautiful skin. Here are some solid facts to consider.
1. Facial Oils Moisturize Dry Skin
Facial oils are better at moisturizing while nourishing the skin than lotions and creams. Most moisturizers are water based, and have a good place in skin care because our skin needs water. But to really achieve optimal effectiveness, face oils win, hands down. If your skin is dry, flaky and rough, like during winter months, oils replenish the skins natural oil content, form a healthy temporary barrier between you skin and the environmental elements of harsh weather, and will go to work almost instantly!
Being a small business owner isn't as glamorous as it sounds. In fact, just the opposite.
It is time consuming, stressful, and back breaking at times. But being a small business owner in the skin care industry is even more difficult. Having one or two products that you offer the public is a bit more manageable, but nonetheless, offering a wide variety of products is overwhelming to say the least.
For almost 2 years I have been working on getting labels, yes labels of all things, just right, to meet all the requirements set forth by the FDA. The FDA has a very clear guideline that must be followed, and I follow the rules. The sizing of the ingredients font has to be a certain percentage to the name of the product font, there has to be an appropriate space between the ingredient name and the side panels, and on and on and on. Your name. Your address. Your website. Your phone number. ALL of which changes with new regulations, as often as my labels did.
The skin care industry is such a diverse business, and with such diversity comes many many myths. It is difficult to decipher what you are suppose to do to have healthy, beautiful skin. Which lotion does what and what a serum does, or even if the beauty products you are using are legit.
I am an avid Dr. Pimple Popper watcher, and love Dr. Lee's down to earth approach to everything she does. The best information she has given is this:
I launched my own skin care business officially in 2013, at the age of 47 yrs young. Received my Certification in Aromatherapy shortly there after and have continued my Clinical Aromatherapy education in the Integrative Healing Practices field and Organic Cosmetic Science. I am married, have one son and two stepchildren and live in a small town in the Texas Panhandle.
