If you haven’t heard of exfoliating your lips before – you are not alone. When it comes to our lips, we often focus on keeping them hydrated. We need to exfoliate our lips regularly to keep them healthy and smooth. Environmental elements such as wind, cold, and even blazing sun takes a toll on our lips and often leaves them dry and chapped, leading to flaking and peeling. Lip scrubs help to slough off dead skin and lets your lip butter penetrate deeper into the skin. to slough off dead, chapped skin and helps your lip balm penetrate deeper into the skin. The results of using a lip scrub is supple, rosier and healthier lips.
Lip scrubs are a great DIY project and ingredients are often found in our pantry. No need to rush off to get the latest scrub, you can customize your lip scrub with whatever ingredients you like. From flavors, to essential oils to plant based oils, brown sugar, white sugar, organic sugar (we recommend this one) to butters and waxes if you choose.
Here are a few of our favorite lip scrubs at Lisa32 Skin Care:
NOURISHING LIP SCRUB
You will need:
1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
1/2 tablespoon organic honey
1 tablespoons brown sugar
add more coconut oil to reach desired consistency if needed.
Antioxidant Moisturizing Lip Scrub
You will need:
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon vitamin E
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Whatever ingredients you experiment with avoid ingredients that might burn or cause irritation such as overuse of essential oils or using salt! OUCH! Make in small batches to keep bacteria from growing if moisture gets into your container. Have Fun making your lip scrubs!
